The Hughes Easel - For centuries, artists have had to move around as they applied paint to a canvas that sat still on an easel. The Hughes easel allows the artist's hand to stay put, while the canvas moves up or down, side to side with ease. The Hughes easel combines mechanical ingenuity with woodworking craftsmanship to provide ease of both vertical and horizontal movement. By using counterweights, an artist can move heavy canvas in any direction with fingertip ease. Once in position, the easel will lock and stay put! Other features include up to 15% tilt at both top and bottom, a piano hinged bottom tray that folds down to allow you to paint right to the edge! Equipped with four casters. The standard Hughes easels which are listed below are constructed from select oak. If you prefer Mahogany, Walnut or Maple, there is an upcharge of approximately $200.00. These easels are custom made and require a six week lead time. They are also very large and are shipped by truck. Shipping to most destinations is $250.00. Some very remote areas might be slightly higher. The Hughes Easel is available in three models - 3000, 4000 and 5000.
