have been producing amate paper for centuries. The culture of amate
paper dates back to pre-Columbian Meso-American
times.
Amate paper looks amazing if you simply frame a sheet as ready made
artwork. Also terrific for bookmaking arts, collage, multimedia artwork, paper sculpture, lampshades, and more.
This solid amate papers are made with embossed discs that look like
"coins." This gives the sheets a lightly textured surface reminiscent of
polka dots or beehive pattern. These sheets are ideal for painting with
encaustic, gouache, or acrylic!

Yuzen Papers are hand-screened patterns taken from these exquisite textile designs. All of these are hand printed on handmade kozo base paper. This sheet is covered in multi color balls set against a pale backdrop of white and gold flowers. The balls are all printed with exotic patterns and outlined in metallic gold. absolutely exquisite papers feature traditional Japanese themes and
patterns; originally this type of paper was based on the patterns used
in fabrics. The multi color printing is extremely complex and
beautifully
done! Most of these include gold metallic printing and outlines that add
to the overall richness of each sheet. These have become very popular
with bookmaking and scrapbooking artists. They make gorgeous book covers
and end sheets. The paper itself is a heavyweight Mulberry type rice
paper; onto which the design is screen printed.
