While manufacturing MUSSINI colors Schmincke combines natural oils such as linseed oil, safflower oil and walnut oil with dissolved dammar natural resin. The addition of dammar resin is tailored to the individual needs of each color to ensure a balanced recipe. This results in 108 colors, each with its own balanced composition. 

Despite the resin content MUSSINI is not a closed color system. On the contrary these colors can also be effortlessly mixed and combined with oil colors without resin, without the need of additional media. Hence using existing colors and combining them with MUSSINI easily expands and enhances your own palette.
