Traditional Rice Paper
Rice Papers are not actually made using rice (or even rice plant
fibers!). The term "rice paper" comes from the translucent nature of the
papers themselves; the paper has a translucency that is similar to a
grain of rice. The papers in this department are mass produced (by hand
and by machine) using Kozo and Gampi fibers. They are surprisingly
strong, durable, and versatile. Ideal for printmaking, sumi painting,
ink, watercolor, drawing, encaustic, and collage.
